Casting is underway for Marvel Studios‘ upcoming threequel, Thor: Ragnarok. Stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander are set to return, while Cate Blanchett will play the villain. Additionally, Mark Ruffalo will return as the Hulk in this film, which is directed by Taika Waititi. And now, another new character has been cast.
According to The Wrap, Creed actress Tessa Thompson has joined Thor: Ragnarok. Her character’s name is currently unknown, but Thompson signed a multi-picture contract. So, if all goes well, we’ll be seeing more of her in other Marvel films.
Thompson’s character is said to be a new love interest for Thor, replacing Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster. (By the way, Portman will not appear in this movie.) Meanwhile, Deadline adds that Thompson’s character is “a kind of superhero.” Could she be playing Valkyrie, who has been rumored to appear in Ragnarok?
Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Thor: Ragnarok begins production this summer. The film will hit theaters on November 3rd, 2017.
