Disney‘s Frozen was a colossal hit back in 2013, grossing nearly $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office. So, unsurprisingly, the studio is making a sequel. A second film was confirmed last year, but we haven’t gotten any solid updates until now, as Anna voice actress Kristen Bell has confirmed she will begin working on it soon.
In an interview with Collider, Bell said that she is “just about to” begin recording her lines for Frozen 2, indicating that production starts very soon. She also praises the sequel’s creative team for putting together a “great” story. “They’ve just written it and they’re still doing tweaks, but I think we should be recording this month. The story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn’t just put something out to put it out. That’s why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one. Generally when you have a first successful movie you want to make a second one. It took them a while because they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it.”
With production beginning soon, when will Frozen 2 be released? An exact date has yet to be announced, but stay tuned for more news as we have it. For Bell’s comments on recording song work for the sequel and Frozen-inspired theme park rides, click HERE.
