A couple months ago, it was reported that Amber Heard was in negotiations to play Mera in the DC Extended Universe. The character will debut in Justice League Part One, and she will go on to play a larger role in 2018’s Aquaman movie. And now, Heard has officially confirmed that it’s a done deal, and she will indeed bring Mera to the big screen.
Speaking with ET Online, Heard confirms that she will play Mera in Justice League. She then offers some details on her costume, saying, “It’s interesting. It’s like, half suit of armor, half scales. It’s strange… We’re in the process of building it now, so it’s coming along.”
It’s good to hear official confirmation of Heard’s involvement, and Mera marks the latest wonderful female hero to join the DCEU. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
Justice League Part One is scheduled to hit theaters November 17th, 2017. The fifth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amber Heard and J.K. Simmons. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio.
