Despite the film’s recent move to 2018, Warner Bros. and Dreamworks‘ Ready Player One is still moving forward with pre-production. The Steven Spielberg-directed adaptation has already cast Olivia Cooke and Ben Mendelsohn, and now, the movie has found its protagonist.
It has been announced (via Deadline) that actor Tye Sheridan has been cast in the lead role for Ready Player One. He will play Wade Watts, the hero of the sci-fi story.
This marks the latest big role in Sheridan’s already noteworthy filmography. He debuts as Cyclops in this summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, while past credits include The Tree of Life and Mud. Starring in a Spielberg-directed tentpole will only continue to help Sheridan’s career.
Ready Player One is set to hit theaters on March 30th, 2018. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
