‘Star Wars Episode VIII’ Gets First Teaser, Full Cast Revealed

Get hyped, folks. With filming for Star Wars: Episode VIII officially underway now, a brief teaser for the film’s production has been unveiled, while the full cast has been set.

First off, after months of speculation, Benicio Del Toro will indeed be in ‘Episode VIII’. We don’t know the exact role he’ll be playing, but it’s likely that he’ll be tasked to take on a villain. Joining Del Toro will be Laura Dern and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran. Who those two will be playing is uncertain as of now as well. Could Dern be playing Rey’s mother? Who knows.

As for that production announcement teaser, we get a look at Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Rey (Daisy Ridley) in a shot seemingly continued from the one The Force Awakens ended on. And of course, we get a look at the crew as director Rian Johnson enthusiastically announces “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Episode VIII!”. Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

And last but not least, a press release has been released via the official Star Wars website. It reads:

Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which began principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016.

Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John BoyegaOscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.  New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.
