Universal Pictures is uniting its classic monsters into their very own cinematic universe. New films based on The Mummy, The Wolf Man and Van Helsing are in the works, while characters such as Frankenstein and Dracula, among many more, are set to pop up in this world.
Another movie that is being developed is Bride of Frankenstein, which would be a remake of the 1935 film of the same name. Universal has tried to reboot this movies several times over the years, but it is finally picking up steam with the Monsters Cinematic Universe in development. Now, the remake has a screenwriter. Also, who is the studio eyeing to direct and star in the movie?
According to Variety, screenwriter David Koepp is set to pen the script for Bride of Frankenstein. He previously worked with Universal on the first two Jurassic Park movies. Since then, he has worked on many franchises, including Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible and Indiana Jones.
Recent rumors have suggested that Angelina Jolie was being sought after to direct and star in Bride of Frankenstein. Variety confirms that the studio is considering her, but she will not decide whether or not to take the job until she reads the script.
Plot details on Bride of Frankenstein are unknown. However, it will be set in the present day, like the rest of the new monster movies. This will make crossovers a lot easier.
