AMBI Pictures, which is run by Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi, have announced that they will finance and produce a remake of the Christopher Nolan film Memento. The original 2000 film starred Guy Pearce as Leonard, a man who searches for his wife’s killer but has trouble with a strange case a memory loss. Memento is extremely unique due to the fact that the movie cuts between scenes that take place in chronological order and in reverse order, showing the very end and working back.
Monika Bacardi released this statement about remaking the cult hit:
“Memento is a masterpiece that leaves audiences guessing not just throughout the film, but long after as well, which is a testament to its daring approach. We intend to stay true to Christopher Nolan’s vision and deliver a memorable movie that is every bit as edgy, iconic and award-worthy as the original. It’s a big responsibility to deliver something that lives up to the mastery of the original, but we are extremely excited and motivated to bring this puzzle back to life and back into the minds of moviegoers.”
It is also worth noting that AMBI Pictures also has the rights to Donnie Darko, Cruel Intentions, Rush, and more that they could possibly remake as well.
