‘Alien: Covenant’ Gets a Release Date and Logo

20th Century Fox is moving full-speed ahead with a sequel to Prometheus, which will be directed by Ridley Scott. Recently, Scott said that the title of the film would be Alien: Paradise Lost, further tying the franchise into the world of Alien. The other day, however, the filmmaker referred to the sequel with another title, Alien: Covenant. Now, Fox has officially confirmed this title, and we even have the logo and release date for it.

Fox has announced that Alien: Covenant is set to hit theaters on October 6th, 2017. Production will begin in February. Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are expected to reprise their roles from Prometheus, while Rebecca Ferguson was/is in contention for a role. Scott and scribe John Logan are currently polishing the script.

Additionally, Fox has unveiled the official logo and plot synopsis for Alien Covenant. Check them out below, and stay tuned for more news as we have it.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. [Via Facebook]
