‘Power Rangers’ Movie Gets Official Title, Character Names Revealed

The upcoming Power Rangers movie has been in the news quite often recently as it assembles its cast. Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) is set to direct with a cast that consists of Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger. While casting for the Yellow Ranger is still unknown, Collider had the exclusive information as to what the film will be titled and what the characters will be named.

The official title is Saban’s Power Rangers named after co-creator of the series, Haim Saban. While the title does sound silly to many, it really isn’t so different than Marvel’s The Avengers by having the creator’s name front and center. Collider went on to reveal the character names of all the rangers. While it was long rumored that they would have the same names as the original TV show, it appears that is false as the real names have been unveiled. They are:

  • Callum Oliver – The Red Ranger/Tyrannosaurus
  • Priya Patel – The Pink Ranger/Pterodactyl
  • Brian Olson – The Blue Ranger/Triceratops
  • Oscar Fernandez – The Black Ranger/Mastodon
  • Teyana Jones – The Yellow Ranger/Sabre-tooth Tiger

Interestingly, it seems that this movie won’t just be a reboot of the original series and will create brand new characters. Also, while the original Power Rangers’ costumes will appear in the movie, it is unknown if they will be in the film the entire time. Are you excited for Saban’s Power Rangers?
