Mad Max: Fury Road has been called one of the best movies of the year and one of the best action movies of all time. Fans fell in love with the chaotic world that director George Miller created and have been clamoring for more, While no plans for a sequel had been officially confirmed just yet, Miller has stated that there are multiple scripts at Warner Bros. that could be made.
In an interview with TopGear, Miller confirmed Warner Bros. has interest in making another Mad Max movie.
“We ended up with two scripts, without really trying,” Miller said.
“We’re talking to the studio [Warner Bros] about it as we speak, but which one of the two stories will happen next, I’m not so sure.”
While re-interest in the Mad Max franchise has basically only appeared this year, Miller stated that the 2 scripts have been around as early as 2001.
“We went to shoot with Mel Gibson back in 2001, but then 9/11 happened, and the American dollar collapsed against the Australian dollar close to 30 per cent, so we lost that amount of budget overnight”
“We were then rained out of Australia. The desert rained for the first time in 15 years, and we ended up in South West Africa, Namibia.”
Can a Mad Max sequel live up to the glory that is Fury Road? Will Warner Bros. greenlight the sequel? One thing is for sure, we all hope so.
